Beverages and Flip Flops

I was asked to design a variety of beverage files and a set of flip flops.

For the soda can, I originally tried to use a popular brand of soda's font. It was too intricate to do as small as I wanted. In order to fit the 3" tall can, the font needed to be about 1/4" tall. I did try increasing the can's size to 4" which increased the font as well, but it still wasn't enough. So, I settled on a more whimsical font (Swing Set BB).

I love the flip flops. As we're entering Spring, they're giving me hope for warmer weather. All sorts of patterned or plain paper could be used to personalize the flip flops. I chose some 'sunny' colors.

Carnival Food

My sister-in-law is throwing a carnival themed birthday party for her daughters and my son, Caleb. Since, the kids are 5 years old and under, she thought a picture menu was needed. I offered to make the menu. I created die cut files for all the food and also word titles to go with the items. All were assembled on a poster board. Here is a picture of Caleb holding the menu. Good Eats

We often see a Thanksgiving table adorned with the cornucopia filled with fruits and vegetables. I created a cornucopia file for that reason. As I went to post it here, I wondered how it tied into Thanksgiving.

It turns out that the cornucopia is a goat's horn; particularily that of Zeus' nanny. Her horn broke off while playing with Zeus. When he restored the horn to her, he gave it magical powers to grant wishes. So, how did the cornucopia make it to the Thanksgiving table? I suppose it became a symbol of abundance. The pilgrims and Native Americans must have been very thankful for the abundance of food they harvested after teaching each other new farming methods.

I hope you have good eats tomorrow as you celebrate all that you are thankful for!

A Bit of Warmth
