Good Eats

We often see a Thanksgiving table adorned with the cornucopia filled with fruits and vegetables. I created a cornucopia file for that reason. As I went to post it here, I wondered how it tied into Thanksgiving.

It turns out that the cornucopia is a goat's horn; particularily that of Zeus' nanny. Her horn broke off while playing with Zeus. When he restored the horn to her, he gave it magical powers to grant wishes. So, how did the cornucopia make it to the Thanksgiving table? I suppose it became a symbol of abundance. The pilgrims and Native Americans must have been very thankful for the abundance of food they harvested after teaching each other new farming methods.

I hope you have good eats tomorrow as you celebrate all that you are thankful for!

Who's Coming to Dinner?

I love Thanksgiving! Next to the Fourth of July, it is my very favorite holiday. What's not to love? Fellowship with loved ones, yummy food, and an opportunity to reflect on all that we're thankful for! Here are a few die cuts made from two new files. They represent who partook in the first Thanksgiving dinner.

A Fall Collection

I created quite a few separate fall files that went well together. They'd be wonderful on their own, but put together, they'd create a nice, cohesive layout. I also would like to thank my husband, Matt. He came up with the idea for the 'A' in 'Autumn.' Very clever Matt!

A Bit of Warmth

As I look out the window and see the snowflakes falling, I'm glad I'm in my nice, warm house. To send some warmth your way, enjoy some hot cocoa. (This file would compliment the snowflakes, snow angel, or pies rather nicely. It could also become coffee or tea by removing the marshmallows.)

Hot Cocoa/Coffee/Tea

$1.50 - file price (Available in .KNK, .AI, .GSD, .WPC)
$1.75 - die cut price

I just put the finishing touches on some homemade gifts today by adding some gift tags. The gifts are herbs that my sister-in-law and I dehydrated from our gardens. We're adding in a cookbook filled with frugal favorites, a jar of spaghetti sauce and a box of pasta to round out the gift.

Gift Tags (5 assorted shapes, 2 sizes each, one shape shown)

$1.50 - file price (Available in .KNK)

Apple Picking

Since my first child was old enough to walk, we've gone to the apple orchard every autumn. We love taking the hay ride back to the trees and picking apples. I've created a few files to compliment the pictures we've taken on those trips. If you'd like to purchase any of my files, please e-mail me at nrothschild76@gmail.com.

Thanksgiving Traditions

Having lived in the Detroit suburbs all of my life, there hasn't been a Thanksgiving that has gone by we haven't watched the Detroit Lions play football. The opposing team changes from year to year, but the Green Bay Packers have been the other team on a number of occasions. In honor of Thanksgiving football, I've created a file to depict the game on tv. You could change the colors, names and numbers to fit your needs.

"Football on TV"
$2.25 - file price (Available in .KNK, .AI, .GSD, .WPC)
$3.00 - die cut price

While many desserts may grace the table, the standard favorite on Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie. I always save room for that! If you just wanted a slice of pumpkin pie, I've provided that too!

Pumpkin Pie Slice
$1.50 - file price (Available in .KNK, .AI, .GSD, .WPC)
$1.75 - die cut price

Pumpkin Pie
$1.50 - file price (Available in .KNK, .AI, .GSD, .WPC)
$2.00 - die cut price

While creating the file for the pumpkin pie, I decided to whip out a cherry pie [file] too. By changing the red filling piece to a dark blue or purple, you instantly have blueberry pie. Change it to a nice golden yellow and dot it with a brown pen and you have cinnamon apple pie. It's a very versatile file. It looks yummy enough to eat!

Cherry/Blueberry/Apple Pie
$1.75 - file price (Available in .KNK, .AI, .GSD, .WPC)
$2.25 - die cut price

To purchase all three pie files (Available in .KNK, .AI), the price is $3.75. The purchase price for the collection of pie die cuts is $5.00.
